Catch up on: Part 1 | Part 2 | Part 3 | Part 4

Every time I look at the news or scroll through social media, I see stories of war, violence, and division. There are rumours of wars, conflicts that never seem to end, and headlines that make the world feel darker and colder.

Sometimes, it feels like compassion has gone out the door. People are quick to argue, quick to judge, and slow to show kindness. We guard our hearts, we close our doors, and we learn to protect ourselves instead of reaching out.

It makes me wonder: How did we get here? How did hearts become so hardened?

But the reality is, we’re living in a broken world. A world that is desperately in need of healing, of grace, of Jesus.

I find myself longing for a world where people care deeply for one another, where we choose love over fear, and where we see each other as human not as enemies, not as strangers to avoid.

Some days, it can be overwhelming to hold all this pain and still have hope. It’s easy to feel numb or even helpless.

But even in this cold, divided world, I believe God is still moving. His light still shines, even when we can’t see it clearly. His love still calls us to be peacemakers, to be voices of kindness, to choose compassion when it feels impossible.

It’s a hard calling. It means we have to keep our hearts soft in a world that wants to harden us. It means choosing forgiveness over bitterness, love over hate, and hope over despair.

I’m learning that holding on to hope doesn’t mean ignoring what’s happening in the world and it means believing that God is still in control, even when everything looks chaotic.

I pray that God gives us courage to keep loving, to keep showing up, and to keep our hearts tender.

💬 Questions for reflection:

How do you protect your heart from becoming cold in a hurting world? Where do you see opportunities to bring warmth and kindness? What helps you hold on to hope when everything feels dark?

The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.” — John 1:5
